Physiotherapy is based on the treatment of the symptoms and the function, movement or activity limitations of patients who are found at the physiotherapy examination. It uses both diagnostic and based on clinical reasoning, as well as educational and manual skills of the therapist. If necessary, it is complemented by therapeutical modalities such as, hot packs, cold, TENS, US etc. and promotes individual activity (coordinated movement as well as the conscious perception) of the patients. The treatment is adapted to the anatomical and physiological, motivational and cognitive characteristics of the patient. The goal of physiotherapy is to restore, maintain or promote health and the reduction of pain.
