Gloria Cup 2018 Basketball

Gloria Cup Basketball, held between the 12-16th September, is the last tournament of the Gloria Cups held in 2018, which bring together world-famous teams and athletes. Zalgiris Kaunas, from Lithuania, has become the champion of this tournament, where AS Monaco, Banvit and CSKA Moscow competed as Group A; Anadolu Efes, TOFAŞ and Zalgiris Kaunas as Group B.Gloria Cup Basketball, held between the 12-16th September, is the last tournament of the Gloria Cups held in 2018, which bring together world-famous teams and athletes. Group A
Group A consisted of the CSKA Moscow, AS Monaco, and Banvit teams. The first match of this group was between CSKA Moscow and AS Monaco, resulting in the 69 – 58 win by CSKA Moscow. The second match of the group took place on the 13th September, where Banvit began the tournament with a 83 – 60 win. The match to determine the winner between CSKA Moscow and Banvit, both winners of previous matches, took place on the 14th September. CSKA Moscow won this game with a score of 76 – 71.

While AS Monaco, losing both previous games in the group, prepared for a match to determine whether it will place fifth or sixth overall, Banvit won its next match, placing 3rd overall in this tournament, while CSKA Moscow, winning both its previous matches, went through to the final round.

Group B
Group B consisted of Anadolu Efes, TOFAŞ, and Zalgiris Kaunas. The first match was between Zalgiris Kaunas and TOFAŞ, with the Lithuanian team winning with a score of 82 – 70. Zalgiris Kaunas, winning the match between Anadolu Efes and Zalgiris Kaunas on the 13th September with a score of 79 – 83, went through to the final match, taking place on 16th September, by taking its 2nd win of 2 matches. In the match between TOFAŞ and Anadolu Efes, the last match of the group on the 14th September, Anadolu Efes was victorious with a score of 83 – 77, becoming the opponent of Banvit to determine 3rd and 4th place. Meanwhile, the winless TOFAŞ became the next opponent for AS Monaco, to determine the 5th and 6th places of the tournament.

Final Day
AS Monaco and TOFAŞ played the first match of the final day, to determine the 5th and 6th place in the tournament. TOFAŞ won this match with a 83 – 77 score. AS Monaco completed the tournament in 6th place, accepting its plaque from Hayrettin Özaltın, Chairman of Özaltın Holding. TOFAŞ, completing the tournament in 5th place, accepted its plaque from Murat Vargı, Founder of MV Holding.

The smiling faces of Anadolu Efes and Banvit. This match saw Banvit completing the tournament in 3rd place with a score of 84 – 82. Anadolu Efes, completing the tournament in 4th place, accepted its plaque from Görkem Dönmez, Director of Sports of the Gloria Sports Arena. Banvit, which completed the tournament in 3th place, accepted its plaque from Melis Özaltın, Board Member of Özaltın Holding. Alex Perez became MVP of the 3rd match.

CSKA Moscow, remaining unbeaten, faced Zalgiris Kaunas in the final match of the Gloria Basketball Cup 2018.
Zalgiris Kaunas became the champion of this tournament, winning against CSKA Moscow with a score of 81 – 73, gaining several crucial points in the last period, in a breathtaking match. CSKA Moscow was awarded the 2nd prize by Burhanettin Hacıcaferoğlu, the Antalya Provincial Sports Director.
The unbeaten champion, Zalgiris Kaunas, accepted their cup from the hands of Mr. Münir Karaoğlu, the Governor of Antalya.
While Marius Grigonis became MVP of the final match, Arturas Milaknis from Zalgiris Kaunas became MVP of the Gloria Basketball Cup Tournament overall.
Arturas Milaknis accepted his prize from Elif Özdemir, Project Leader of the Gloria Sports Arena, and Board Member of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey.
